When working from home, it is often a struggle to balance being a business person with being a parent. Children often prefer regular 15 minute spots of quality time than the occasional day with you. Here are a few ideas of how you can spend quality time with your children during the day.
Go for a walk – around the block, to school or daycare, even to the shops. A walk will give you and your children exercise as well as a fantastic opportunity to spend together.
Read a book – kids love having stories read to them. Take a few minutes to stop what you are doing and read your kids a book. If your child is a baby, they don’t mind if you read them a business book!!
Toys – get down on the floor and play with your kids. Make a train track, a cubby house, help with a puzzle. Your kids will love this special time with you, and it will give your kids an activity they can continue when you continue your work.
Activities – set aside a day a week where you take your kids on an activity. This could be playgroup, swimming lessons, gymbaroo, dancing, or anything else your kids enjoy. The activity could last half an hour, or half a day, it’s up to you, but your kids will enjoy this time together.
Business tasks – if your kids are anything like mine, they would love to help you out. Let them help you with small tasks, such as putting stamps on letters, or sorting the mail, depending on their age.
Spending quality time with your children will also help your business by giving you regular breaks, so you come back to your tasks fresh & ready to work.
